Coat of arms of Mari El Republic was adopted on March 5, 2011. Its description: "The coat of arms of the Republic of Mari El is a classic heraldic shield with a ratio of 9:8. In the center of the white field is an image of a red bear walking to the right. In its left paw, the bear holds an azure shield with an image of a solar sign in the form of a golden slanted Mari cross. In its right paw, it holds a sword in azure scabbard resting on the ground and a golden hammer with a silver handle. The heraldic shield is decorated with a golden crown with teeth stylized as a national ornament." The coat of arms was designed by artist Andrei Sannikov (Yoshkar-Ola). |
