Blazons of Towns in Novosibirsk Oblast |
The coat of arms of Novosibirsk Oblast was adopted on May 29, 2003. Its description: "The coat of arms of the Novosibirsk Oblast is a heraldic shield with a silver (white) field, on which there is a azure (blue) column and above it two black sables facing each other with scarlet (red) tongues, with silver (white) inner sides of the ears, noses, throats, and claws, holding a golden loaf of bread with a salt shaker in their front paws, accompanied at the ends by a black thread-like belt, changing color on the column to silver (white)." The author of region's symbols is the architect Grigory Vladimirovich Kuzhelev. The azure pillar symbolizes the Ob River, and the narrow horizontal black band symbolizes the Trans-Siberian Railway, which crosses the entire territory of the Novosibirsk Oblast from west to east. Against the background of the azure pillar is the main element of the coat of arms – a golden loaf of bread with a salt shaker. The shape of this element resembles the dome of the State Academic Opera & Ballet Theater in Novosibirsk. |
