The coat of arms of Orenburg Oblast was approved on December 23, 1996. Its official description (the text describing the coat of arms was changed on September 12, 1997): "The full image of the coat of arms of Orenburg Oblast is a shield with an image of a running azure (blue) marten placed in the upper silver part of the shield. In the lower scarlet (red) part of the shield are two golden banners, accompanied at the top by a Greek-Russian cross decorated at the ends (with one crossbar in the belt and one crossbar in the band), and at the bottom by a golden crescent moon, turned with its horns upward and to the right, on the cloth of each banner is the Russian eagle of 1856. The shield is framed by golden (yellow) oak leaves intertwined with a blue (azure) ribbon; the shield is crowned with a yellow (golden) crown." The heraldic description of the coat of arms: "In a scarlet (red) field, there are two golden banners, accompanied at the top by a Greek-Russian cross decorated at the ends (with one crossbar in the belt and one crossbar in the band), and at the bottom by a golden crescent moon, turned with its horns upward and to the right; on the cloth of each banner is a Russian eagle of 1856; in the silver head of the shield is a running azure (blue, light blue) marten with scarlet eyes and tongue." |
